For My
Best Friend
(Dedicated
to Crishele)
Clandestine
schemes, girlish dreams—
Didn’t
we make them out of our whims?
Remember
how we chased bright-colored sparrows,
And
begged Cupid to hit us with his arrows?
That was
fun, wasn’t it? A great fun, indeed,
When we
used to stick and spent time together in greed.
I
couldn’t forget those times when we laughed
Mostly,
of course, those times when aloud we cried.
We’re
also a couple of hopeless romantics,
A pair
of incurable, foolish fanatics.
But we
were full of glee and so vivacious then,
Stoppin’
not, spinning over and over, dancing in our glen.
And I
couldn’t believe it when time said, “It’s over!”
My
tears, though unshed, were so hard to bear.
Sorry,
friend, if I didn’t let you see me cry
‘Coz I
couldn’t stand you hurtin’; better if I die.
Sorry if
I didn’t say a proper goodbye,
‘Coz I
was believing this predicament was fate’s big, flat lie!
Yet as
for now, one of your most beautiful days,
I pray
to our Father to shower you the most splendorous of sun’s rays—
To bless
you in so many ways
A
jillion, trillion times more than He nurtures those jays.
And
though I may not be near you,
Still
remember that “I LOVE YOU,” that I do.
And even
though people think of you as somebody insignificant,
For me,
you’re a million times more important.
Friend,
I miss you so…
And here
in my memory you stay; never will I let you go.
